To meet the needs of clean water for peoples in Pekanbaru and Kampar Regency, on Monday, September 20, 2021, PT PP Tirta Riau as operator of BUK (Badan Usaha Kerjasama) has carried out the First Pile Piling acitivity, for Drinking Water Supply System project with capacity of 1,000 liters per second in Kualu Village, Kec. Tambang, Kab Kampar.
This project is part of a series of implementation betweenf PERUMDAM Tirta Siak Pekanbaru City, PERUMDAM Tirta Kampar, Kampar District and PT Sarana Pembangunan Riau, to provide SPAM (Sistem Penyediaan Air Minum) across Pekanbaru City and Kampar District.
The event was attended by the Governor of Riau Province (Drs.H. Syamsuar, M.Si), Mayor of Pekanbaru (Dr. H.Firdaus, ST, M.T), Regent of Kampar (H.Catur Sugeng Susanto, SH, M.H), Director of Operations of PT PP Infrastruktur (Satya Priambodo), Director of PT PP Tirta Riau (Achmad Sanusi) and Director of PT Sarana Pembangunan Riau (Fuady Noor, SE).
Since the Ground breaking in November 2020, PT PP Tirta Riau continues to coordinate with its stakeholders to accelerate the fulfillment of preliminary requirements in the form of design planning process, licensing and so forth. This first pile piling activity is the beginning of the process to start the construction phase of the construction fot the Clean Water Supply System, which is expected to reach the customers gradually starting the end of 2022.
In his opening remarks, Satya Priambodo representing the President Director of PT PP Infrastruktur said that the construction of production unit installation is using the most reliable and the best technology available today. The construction is planned to take place in 2 stages with a total capacity of 1,000 liters per second. The treated water has met drinking water quality standards in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile the pipeline network construction will be carried out in 4 stages that are planned to serve the needs of Household and Non-Household customers in Pekanbaru city and Kampar Regency District.
“SPAM Across Pekanbaru City and Kampar District will serve +624,000 people (approximately 102,000 house connections) in 5 sub-districts namely: Tampan, Bukit Raya, Marpoyan Damai, Siak Hulu, and Tambang with an increase in service coverage of 0% in the service area, to 55% (greenfields) with raw water sources coming from the Kampar River” said Satya Priambodo.
In addition to the investment of upstream production units and distribution units in the downstream scope, PT PP Tirta Riau will support PERUMDAM in the form of planning and management assistance to improve PERUMDAM services and performance in carrying out drinking water supply activities for customer needs in the cooperation area, both in terms of quality, quantity, continuity, and affordability through investment assistance funds, implementation of measurable service improvements, use of systems, programs, technologies and knowledge necessary for the improvement of PERUMDAM performance.
To facilitate the implementation of the Pekanbaru and Kampar Cross-City Drinking Water Supply System in order to run smoothly in terms of water absorption by customers, carry out at the same time a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. That is mutually beneficial between PERUMDAM Tirta Siak & PERUMDAM Tirta Kampar with the Housing Developers Association (ASPERNAS), Real Estate Indonesia (REI) and the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI).
By providing healthy water quality for the community and encourage campaigns to protect excessive groundwater collection and reduce public spending to meet their water needs at affordable prices in accordance with the calculation of tariffs that have been issued by the government, of course this MOU is a positive step that supports each other and strengthens the business branches of each party.
In this great occasion, the Governor of Riau Province, Drs.H Syamsuar, M.Si, in his speech invited all residents of Kualu Village to participate for the success of SPAM development. “This project is not only meet the needs of clean water for the people here but also can improve the welfare of the community because I am sure, in the future within the construction of this project, new micro-businesses will appear, it is also possible to become a new tourist area that can improve the economic condition and welfare of the citizens. So it needs support, participation and coordination from all parties,” he concluded his remarks with optimism.
